Cowboy songs are all too often sad. Life is going great, and then one day tragedy strikes out of the blue. That is the way it was before we had our nanny government killing us slowly by poisoning us with city water, deadly food additives, and Big Pharma drugs. 

I just got a phone call this morning from CVS drug store trying to convince me to get my flu shot-- you know, the one that the CDC has actually said does not work this year-- the one that is laced with mercury as a preservative.

I would rather take my chances on the mercy of my God and the wide open places of Texas.

This is not music.

The piano has 88 keys which are made up of about 243 wires. There is a science and mathematical discipline in the scale and tuning of a piano, and Sergei Prokofiev had no business being taken seriously by anyone.

But, the world sits in awe of the mad ramblings. They have no idea where the alleged music starts or ends. They only know that someone said Prokofiev is a master composer, and one must try to look serious and attentive when the idiot is performing.

Thus, it is Forte, but it is Forte nonsense.

Some of you know from my journal online that I do not have much patience for the alleged "altar call" as perpetrated these days be Fundamental Baptist preachers and others who copy them. The nagging threatening call to come to Christ in faith is terrifying, and I am convinced that many come to Christ out of terror of the fire breathing preacher rather than out of love for the Savior.

That said, I watched Bishop G E Patterson giving his classic altar call, and I must say that, if an alter call is really in order, this is the way it should be done. There should be a spirit of encouragement, but the emphasis should be on the joy of "coming home" to God's family.

Tommy Emmanuel shows the temperament of Auzzies. These people are easy and friendly with each other.

Nothing proves that like a top musician sharing the stage (not dominating it) with a kid just to give him a kick upward.

Forte? Yes, as good as the blues gets.



I do not believe Tommy's persona is phony and simply a trade mark, as with so many performers these days. 

We visited Australia where my son and his family live, and all Auzzies are like Tommy. It did help to avoid telling them we were from the USA. We said we were from TEXAS, and they love Texas. Texas and Australia seem like sister nations..... Ooops, well, sister something anyway.

We will visit Tommy Emmanuel again soon.

DAS FALSETTO- DAS NUTTY AS A FRUITCAKE

This one was popular when I was in college. I never paid much attention to it, so I assumed the high voice was a girl. I never listened to the words. I just found this, and I decided this kid was pretty clever, and........ FORTE.

So, it deserves a play for memory's sake, and then off to the closet again.



How about the pegged trousers and the skinny ties. I hated those ties. The pegged trousers had to be designed by some French queer, at least that was my Dad's verdict. But you have to give that era credit for not coming out dressed in rubbish they found in the dumpster behind Goodwill Industries.

If the 60s was art, we are lost forever. But, some poor demented soul our there needs the rush of returning to those plastic years. GO HERE, AND ENJOY

DAS TOTALLY TOGETHER

This is beyond precise. It is like two wings of an eagle. The unity of command and delivery is beyond anything I have seen in a long time.

You may think this is only the acre of classical music. Not so. This oneness between the players is also found in the most excellent barber shop quartets and is called "the fifth sound." It was what made Glenn Miller's big band the masters of that genre.

DAS FORTE IT IS..... DAS FRIENDLY? MAYBE NOT

Zack Hemsey certainly has taken orchestration to the Forte level. I do not like this stuff, but I will admit it grabs you. 

And, Hemesy sure knows how to write epic End-Of-The-World-As-We-Know-It music.




If you are familiar with Zack's work, you will know it is deeply morbid. I have to believe Zack it in touch with Satan, or else he has had some horrible thing send his life in a tragic direction. He seems to be lashing out. What is troubling is this, clever as his music is, it marries itself to the worst messages we are getting from the performance arts these days.

Where are we going? Hey, Zach, write a musical answer to that question. Is it heaven of hell?

What is das Forte Music?

Answer: This blog is for me to drop weird and wonderful music on you peasants out there. I shall try very hard to serve up music that is reasonably rational, but it will always be off the center where the rubbish thrived.
